Shaun Mayo is a Human Resources Strategist, who has made a name for himself by driving business results through the HR function. Shaun has over 15 years of HR leadership experience delivering innovative people solutions, developing and managing teams that operate in an agile way, and helping to build a high-performance culture that promotes diversity and inclusion. Shaun is known for delivering forward-thinking HR solutions to solve some of the most complex business problems.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Shaun received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Texas Southern University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. Shaun holds the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) - Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation and a certificate in Executive Compensation from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His continuing quest for ongoing learning has included executive education certificates from Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Shaun’s professional career began with him running departments for retailers like JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Macy’s. This experience allowed him to gain a deep understanding of managing operations, which has led to him being a highly effective HR Business Partner who understands the connectivity between the business and human resources. During his tenure at Kohl’s, Shaun had the opportunity to enter the human resources field, and it was there that he fell in love with the power of driving the business through human capital management.

Shaun has held HR roles of increasing responsibility with companies such as Macy’s, Amazon, Walmart, and the Arizona Cardinals Football Club. Shaun currently serves as the Chief People Officer for the Arizona Cardinals and its affiliated companies, where he leads all human resources functions, including all programs and initiatives involving workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Shaun has a strong passion for developing leaders and a commitment to service and advocacy to foster a more inclusive environment. Shaun serves on several boards, including the Collegiate Leadership Competition, the Arizona State University Sports Business Advisory Board, and the National Society of Black Sports Professionals. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking and is an avid reader.
