Program Facilitator

Be your own kind of beautiful. Less perfection, more authenticity. It's easier to maintain...and it feels so much lighter.

Nia-Tayler Clark, a lover of literacy, is a firm believer in the transformative power of education, representation, and access.

While spending five years as a high school English teacher, she was known for her ability to make content inclusive, engaging, and memorable for students. Her colleagues appreciated her innovative approach to fostering a love for literacy in her classroom and her student data reflected a continuous cycle of student growth.

Clark’s life would change forever after one student boldly stated in the middle of class, “I don’t read Miss.; I’m Black." These few words inspired her to start BLACKLIT: a monthly subscription box and online bookstore highlighting Black authors and entrepreneurs in efforts to close the literacy gap and increase representation.

As BLACKLIT experienced rapid growth, Clark faced the hard decision of leaving her position in the classroom to embark on the journey of full-time entrepreneurship. With her faith at the forefront and her 4-year-old son by her side every step of the way, Clark has been relentless in her plans to open a physical location for the BLACKLIT.

The BLACKLIT Bookstore is now open Tuesday -Saturday from 11 am-6 pm. It is located at 4050 McEwen Suite 9105 Rd. Dallas, TX
