SST is open to any aspiring or early-stage entrepreneur looking to build their business skills, expand their network, and access valuable resources.
Sign up by completing the Registration Form and then create your Player Profile to officially join the roster!
Getting Started & Player Profile
Your Player Profile is your official SST participant profile, featuring information about you and your business (or idea). It helps mentors, peers, and the SEED SPOT community connect with you throughout the program.
Once approved, your Player Card will be featured on the Players Page, making you an official member of the SST25 roster!
To complete your Player Profile, fill out the Player Profile form and submit the following:
Page 1: Personal Information
- Your Name & Email Address – Make sure this matches your SST registration details.
- Email & LinkedIn Visibility (Optional) – Choose whether to display your email and LinkedIn on your public Player Profile.
- Upload a Headshot Photo – Highly encouraged! If you prefer not to upload a photo, an avatar will be automatically assigned.
- Your Assist: What Can You Give? – Share skills, knowledge, or connections that could benefit fellow participants.
- Your Ask: How Can Others Help YOU? – Let the SST community know how they can support you!
Page 2: Business or Idea Details
- Your Business Name – If you don’t have an official name yet, enter a placeholder.
- Your Role in the Business – Enter your title (e.g., Founder, CEO, Director of Sales).
- Business Website or Facebook Page (Optional) – Share your business’s website or social media page.
- Business Visibility (Optional) – Choose whether to display your business name, role, and website on your public Player Profile.
Page 3: Context for Speakers & Mentors (This will NOT be public on your Player Profile)
- Your Business Stage – Select whether you’re in the idea stage, early stage, or growth stage.
- Tell Us About Your Business or Idea – Briefly describe your business, the problem it solves, and who it helps.
- Your Program Goal – What’s the biggest thing you want to achieve during Startup Spring Training? Be bold and specific!
- Agree to the SEED SPOT Startup Spring Training Terms and Conditions.
Note: Players should Register before completing their Player Profile.
Your Player Card will be featured on the Players Page, which is visible to other participants, mentors, and the SST community. You can choose whether to include your email, LinkedIn, and business details when filling out your Player Profile.
We understand that not everyone is comfortable sharing their full details publicly, and we want you to feel safe while participating in Startup Spring Training.
Here are some ways you can adjust your profile for privacy:
- Use a last initial instead of your full last name – You can enter just your first name and last initial (e.g., "Jamie S.") instead of your full name.
- Opt out of displaying personal details – You can choose not to include your email, LinkedIn, business name, or website on your public Player Profile.
- Use a generic avatar instead of a photo – If you prefer not to upload a headshot, an avatar will be automatically assigned to your profile.
- Use a placeholder for your business name – If your business is still in development or confidential, you can use a general descriptor (e.g., "Wellness Startup" instead of a formal name).
- Keep your responses broad – You can still complete "Your Assist" and "Your Ask" in a way that shares value without revealing too much personal information.
If you have additional concerns or need special accommodations, please reach out to startupspringtraining@seedspot.org, and we’ll work with you to find a solution that allows you to participate comfortably.
We highly encourage participants to upload a headshot to personalize their experience and help others connect with them. However, if you prefer not to, an avatar will automatically be assigned to your Player Card.
At Startup Spring Training, we believe in entrepreneurs supporting entrepreneurs—everyone has something to give, even if it’s just a small insight, a helpful resource, or a shared experience.
Your "Assist" could be:
- Offering marketing advice if you’ve run a campaign before
- Sharing a great free tool that helped your business
- Connecting someone to a resource or group you’ve found useful
- Giving encouragement or lessons from your own journey
However, there is no obligation to help anyone who reaches out. If you’re busy or it’s not the right fit, you are welcome to decline politely or not respond. You are always in control of your engagement.
Your "Ask" is your chance to let the SST community know how they can support you. Be as specific as possible—this helps mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, and SEED SPOT staff connect you with the right resources.
Here are some examples of great Asks:
- Connections: “I’m looking to meet other entrepreneurs in the food industry.”
- Feedback: “I’d love a second opinion on my website before I launch.”
- Advice: “What’s the best way to price my product for wholesale?”
- Resources: “Does anyone know of grants for women entrepreneurs?”
- Mentorship: “I need guidance on scaling my business while keeping costs low.”
Even if you're not sure exactly what you need, just share where you’re stuck—the Startup Spring Training community is here to help!
If your Player Profile isn’t appearing on the Players Page, it’s most likely still in the review process. Profiles are typically approved within a few hours but may take longer at peak times.
Here’s what to do:
- Wait a Few Hours – Profile approvals aren’t instant and may take up to 24 hours to process.
- Check Your Email – If there was an issue with your submission, you may receive an email from SEED SPOT with next steps.
- Make Sure You Clicked ‘Submit’ – If you didn’t reach the confirmation screen, your profile may not have been sent.
- Still Missing? Reach Out! – If more than 24 hours have passed and your profile still isn’t live, email startupspringtraining@seedspot.org, and we’ll check on it for you!
If you need to make edits or corrections to your Player Profile, please email your request to startupspringtraining@seedspot.org and a member of our team will assist you.

Your registration details, attendance, and application information are kept private and are never shared with outside groups. If you receive a microgrant, we will request a W-9 form for tax purposes, but this is only used for standard financial compliance and is not shared beyond what is required for payment processing.
Your Player Card is displayed publicly on the Players Page, where other participants and mentors can see the information you choose to share. Refer to the "What if I'm not comfortable having a public Player Profile?" FAQ above for tips on added privacy if you have any concerns.
For Participation: No, U.S. citizenship is NOT required to participate in Startup Spring Training. The program is open to all entrepreneurs, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
To Receive a Microgrant: You also do not need to be a U.S. citizen to receive a microgrant (provided you complete all requirements), but you must have access to a U.S. bank account to receive the funds and be able to submit a W-9 form using either:
- A Social Security Number (SSN), or
- A Tax ID (EIN) for your business.
If you’re unsure whether you qualify, feel free to reach out to startupsrpingtraining@seedspot.org, and we’ll be happy to help!

MICROGRANT ELIGIBILITY
To qualify, you must:
- Live in Arizona
- Have experienced barriers in accessing business resources (such as funding, mentorship, or professional networks)
- Identify as part of an underrepresented group (including but not limited to women, people of color, and historically underserved entrepreneurs)
- Complete all program tasks and activities outlined in How to Play
- Submit a W-9 form upon program completion (required for tax purposes)
- Have access to a U.S. bank account that can receive funds on your behalf (personal, business, or otherwise)
Many entrepreneurs—especially those from historically underserved communities—have faced unique challenges in getting the support they need to grow their businesses. These barriers can include:
- Limited access to funding or investment opportunities
- Difficulty finding mentors or professional networks
- Challenges navigating the business world due to structural inequities
- Lack of exposure to formal business education or resources
If you’ve ever struggled to secure funding, connect with mentors, or gain access to opportunities that others seem to have more easily, you may qualify for a microgrant.
We recognize underrepresentation as the lack of proportional inclusion across various identities, encompassing but not limited to: entrepreneurs of color; individuals who identify as women, transgender, and non-binary; those with diverse abilities; individuals from low- and moderate-income backgrounds; military veterans, active-duty personnel, and military spouses; members of the LGBTQIA+ community; immigrants or first-generation citizens; and individuals residing in rural communities.
No, microgrants are awarded based on demonstrated barriers to business success, not just identity.
While SEED SPOT prioritizes funding for historically underrepresented entrepreneurs, we recognize that barriers to resources, mentorship, and capital can affect individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
In the Investment Intentions form that you'll submit for your microgrant, you will have the opportunity to share any challenges you've faced in accessing business support. Those who do not identify as part of an underrepresented demographic can use this form to highlight significant obstacles they have encountered.
Funding is prioritized for those with the greatest need, while ensuring fairness and accessibility for all.
Take a quick self-assessment quiz to check your eligibility!
(Don't worry, your answers will not be recorded—this is just a tool to help you understand if you may qualify.)
Microgrants will be disbursed by April 30, 2025, via direct deposit to a U.S. bank account.
To receive your funds, you’ll need to submit a W-9 form with either:
- Your Social Security Number (SSN), or
- A Tax ID (EIN) for your business.
Microgrant recipients can use the funds however they choose to invest in their business or themselves, such as:
- Purchasing business supplies or equipment
- Marketing and advertising expenses
- Business education or professional development
- Launching or expanding a product or service
There are no restrictions on how you use your microgrant—it’s about giving you the flexibility to make the best decisions for your business!
